While Gaillard first picked up a camera in high school on Nantucket, he found his passion for the medium and its potential during his undergraduate study at Stanford. It was there that he was introduced to the large-format camera and found the methodical, meditative approach he employs to this day. This collection is a small selection from an extensive body of work that he has developed over the years. California's diverse and expansive landscape has become an artistic pilgrimage of sorts for Gaillard, who returns frequently to fulfill private commissions and continue numerous ongoing threads of interest many of which started while he was a during his undergraduate studies at Stanford.
